Statement on Sexual Assault

It has been clear that sexual assault has continued to be a problem on our campus.  We as a community cannot tolerate this. Policies should be improved to focus on the well-being of survivors. We should reinforce our commitment to ensuring that survivor’s rights are respected, and that these processes are transparent. Policies in place should be constantly reviewed to be effective and well enforced. There is growing distrust between survivors and administration over the latter’s handling of these cases. We must ensure that the process becomes more transparent, that reporting is more accessible, and that survivors are always supported throughout the process.
We–as a ticket and as a campus –cannot ignore these issues; we must strive to create a community that is safe and supportive.
